LSTA Funding Anywhere-Anytime Library
Dateline -- Tampa
Tampa Bay Library Consortium today announced the receipt of
$225,000 for the prototype project Anywhere-Anytime Library. This
project will allow any authorized library patron with World wide Web
access to search select databases, and a designed group of
cooperating libraries' holdings. Patrons will be able to select and place
interlibrary loan requests for both books and journals from the same
web-based search menu.
TBLC was founded in 1979 and serves 78 libraries in 12 counties in West
Central Florida. TBLC member libraries are "dedicated to promoting and
coordinating the sharing of materials among public, academic, school, and
special libraries." TBLC provides training and continuing education,
technical support and the SUNLINE database, a shared library automation
system.
