Anywhere-Anytime Library Progress Report
Dateline -- Tampa Bay Library Consortium (TBLC) today announced ...
The contract between Ameritech Library Services (ALS) and TBLC for
Anywhere-Anytime Library is in negotiations. TBLC's staff will meet
with our attorney on December 10th. Signing of the contract is
anticipated before the Christmas Holiday.
The participating libraries have submitted their configuration forms.
These will be turned over to ALS upon completion of the contract. An
early January meeting will be called for the participating libraries to
discuss the schedule for the project, a logo and ideas for web screen
layouts.
The order for the Sun server is still in purchasing at Hillsborough
County and is expected to be approved by December 15. The server
should be delivered to Tampa by early January.
The Electronic Resources Task force met on November 17 to begin
work to evaluate and select on-line resources in conjunction with this
project.
The virtual library is still targeted for a grand opening in January 2000.
TBLC was founded in 1979 and serves 78 libraries in 12 counties in West
Central Florida. TBLC member libraries are "dedicated to promoting and
coordinating the sharing of materials among public, academic, school, and
special libraries." TBLC provides training and continuing education,
technical support and the SUNLINE database, a shared library automation
system.
