URSA 2.6 Notes

URSA version 2.6. contains the OCLC hook, which we will testing on three library systems - Tampa, Sarasota and SUNLINE. It will take several months to get it going in full swing.

Other enhancements include:

  1. Search results sorted by author, title or publication date (newest date first) by clicking the column header
  2. Screens for search results are changed and each library can optionally display locations for patrons. Default is to mask locations - if you want locations to show you will need to let me know. (It is similar to how a staff search displays now, with library name if only one library or a number if more than one library has the item.)
  3. Patrons can cancel their own requests from the "Review Your Requests" screen

Problem fixes include:

  1. Titles with ":" now search correctly
  2. Search terms with spaces no longer jump to some other place on the screen
  3. The sender address for emails ("nobody") can now be changed to Alleycat
  4. Request history is chronological
  5. Request inquiry displays requests in reverse chronological order, most recent at top of list
  6. Maximum cost box is removable from patron request screen (let me know if you want it removed)
  7. Complete can be performed from any library in a shared catalog (this only applies to SUNLINE and SPIN)
  8. Double clicking on the submit button no longer submits multiple copies of a request
  9. When completing a request you will be offered an option to either complete or not when automatic checkin fails. If you say "No" you can manually checkin the item before trying the complete again. By saying "Yes" you will force the complete. You will still want to check it in manually.

Complete usually fails because an item has a hold on it. Since the system can not read the text it is not sure what to do with the item therefore does not check the item in.
  10. "Search Strategies" has been changed to "Catalogs to Search" to avoid confusion with Boolean search strategies.
