URSA Tutorial

The tutorial files under "Tutorial Downloads" contains a CBT tutorial designed by Lauren Stokes to train library staff on the URSA software in either "unmediated mode" or "mediated mode". The scope of the tutorial is for returnable materials. Copy loans will be included in a later version.

The tutorial can be found in the "URSA" file in the download section. The other files are support materials.

The tutorial uses a small Microsoft Access Database and will need a "data source - ODBC Driver" connected to the supplied database in order for the tutorial to work correctly. Please be sure and read the "Tutorial Setup" document. It gives instructions for making the data source connection. Please note that you do NOT need MS Access in order to use this tutorial.

If you have connection problems see the file entitled Database Connection and download the Mdac_typ.exe file.

You will need to print the CBT Manual for the mode you wish to use. The manual is a step-by-step process for learning the software. The left hand column of the manual contains all the necessary information to work through the tutorial. When working in staff mode you can jump to any section you want to learn about.

The tutorial was designed as closely as possible to Windows conventions with some exceptions. Use the TAB key to move between fields and click below the scroll bar to scroll down.

If you have any comments or suggestions for improvement of this tutorial you may contact Lauren Stokes at stokesl@tblc.org.
