What do I need to checkout materials?
You need an official Argosy University picture ID.
How do I find what I need in the library?
Look in the Library's online catalog to find books,
videos, journals, assessment instruments and other materials that the library owns.
If you have any more questions, be sure to ask at the Library's Service Desk.
How do I renew the material I have checked out?
To renew material, log into the Library Catalog.
- Go to the catalog at http://library.argosyu.edu:8191/.
- Click on "Login" from the top menu bar.
- Type in your barcode number located on the front of your student ID card.
- Type in your last name.
- Once logged into the catalog, click on "Patron" from the top menu bar.
- Your information will appear, showing the items you have checked out and their due dates.
- Click the renew box beside each item you would like to renew.
- If you are not allowed to renew an item for whatever reason, the system will not let you.
- A new due date should appear.
- Don't forget to click on "Logout" from the top menu bar when you are finished.
How do I get a specific reference question answered?
If you have a question and need search assistance, come to the Library's Service Desk.
This desk is staffed at all hours that the library is open. Faculty and students are encouraged to consult with
the librarian concerning their research needs.
You are also encouraged to call 813-463-7174.
Additionally, the Tampa Bay Library Consortium sponsors the Ask a Librarian
reference service via the Internet and chat.
Can I use my personal laptop in the library?
Yes. However, you will have power your laptop by using its own battery. There are no electrical outlets in the library study area.
Where can I find the most recent issues of the journals?
Most recent issues of journals are on the shelf with the back issues.
Be sure to check the Library Catalog to find out whether or not we carry a particular title.
What can I do if I can't find a book/video/journal in the Library?
You are encouraged to use the Library's Interlibrary Loan (IIL) service. Simply complete an
ILL request. Be sure to read all policies and procedures.
In addition, you are encouraged to check local libraries for materials not owned by the
Tampa Library. Links to local libraries are available on the
Book Sources web page.
Where can I return books when I'm finished with them?
You can drop off items at the Library's Service Desk when the Library is open or in the Library drop box when the Library is closed.
Is there a photocopier available?
Yes. There is a photocopier in the Library that uses change. Photocopies are $ .10/ page.
What if I still can't find what I need to know?
Please ask at the Library's Service Desk for assistance for solving your information needs.
