Tampa Library Mission Statement
The Library provides access to information resources and assists students, faculty, and staff in the most effective means of identifying and acquiring information resources to meet their curricular and research needs. The Library recognizes the diversity of the student population and strives to provide a safe and comfortable learning environment. The method used in achieving these objectives involves the provision of print and electronic materials. In this way, the Library contributes to the education of students, regardless of their geographic location, in the varied programs offered by the Tampa schools.
Collections
The Library houses the material collections of Argosy University, Tampa Campus; The Art Institute of Tampa; and South University -- Tampa. These collections include:
- Reference Materials
- Circulating Books
- Journals
- Audio/Visuals (multimedia)
- Assessment Instruments
- Government Documents
- Slides
Current combined material statistics include over 5,000 book
titles, 250 journal titles, and 700 audio/visual titles. In addition,
there are 14 PC work stations with Internet access, Microsoft Office
products, and other appropriate software.
Circulation
- Reference materials, newspapers, and journals do not circulate.
- Circulating books and government documents can be checked out for two (2) weeks by undergraduate students and four (4) weeks by graduate students. Books may be renewed once.
There is a grace period of one (1) day to return books before a fine begins to accumulate. The late fine is $1.00
per day. The fine does not accumulate on days when the Library is closed (some weekends and holidays).
- Reserve items circulate for up to eight (8) hours. Some reserve items do not circulate. The time amount is dependent upon the instructor. The late fine is $0.25 per hour. The fine does not accumulate during hours that the Library is closed.
- Videos (audio/visual materials) may be checked out by students for two (2) days. The late fine is $1.00 per day. The fine does not accumulate on days when the Library is closed
(some weekends and holidays).
- Assessment Instruments may be used by qualified students (Clinical Psychology) and can be checked
out for three (3) days. Practicum students can check out the instruments for four (4) days. The late fine is $50.00 per day. The fine does not accumulate
on days when the Library is closed (some weekends and holidays).
If materials are not returned on time or damaged, patrons will be charged the cost of the item plus a $10.00 processing fee.
Copies/Copyright
The Library houses a copy machine for student use. Copies are $0.10 per
page and are payable when the machine is used. Please read the copyright
notice above the machine.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Materials not owned by the Library can be borrowed from a number of
sources. Students and faculty simply need to fill out an
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) form in order
to obtain such material. Please see the Library's
ILL Policy sheet for more information.
Research Assistance
Library staff are available to assist students with their research needs.
