About our Blog
The Tampa Bay Library Consortium (TBLC) has recently challenged staff at its member libraries to the ‘2.0 Challenge.’ Through this year-long series, individuals are being challenged to implement and integrate Web 2.0 tools and concepts into their library’s services and their own professional development.
Participants receive Golden Tickets for each activity they participate in throughout the year. These Golden Tickets can be exchanged for exciting prizes. Activities will include: ‘think tank’ sessions, training, web tutorials, and ‘creation’ of a technology. Through this blog, TBLC plans to keep up with the latest 2.0 news, promote golden ticket opportunities and display examples of the 2.0 challenge appearing in local libraries.

This kickoff was fantastic. It was just what I needed to get reenergized with new ways to use technology. I’ve known about RSS, Blogs and Wikis, but with today’s presentation, I’m already thinking about trying to use Wikis instead of ‘pathfinders’. I’ve thought of a new assignment for the LIS 2004 class I teach using YouTube and I can’t wait to win over other staff members into trying an internal blog. Although Second Life might take up too much of my free time, you can bet I’ll look at it as well! Great Job TBLC!-M. Hh.

The presentation was enlightening. It was really helpful to know about the sites where you can play around in until you feel comfortable with using the tool (Play4free). Our library will be utilizing a WIKI soon.

I’ve just written my first WIKI pages identifying USF library resources for first year English composition students. I cannot tell what Sturm und Drang I went through until I started it & realized how fairly easy the process was. I especially related when Helene said that it (anything Lib 2.0) doesn’t have to be perfect…just get it out there! I’m following a few choice librarian blogs & know something about the Socialization sites thanks to Second Life but the workshop really parted the clouds for me. My colleague & I were talking about it all the way back to USF. Kudos TBLC. Christa

This was a great presentation! Helene really knows what she is talking about. I learned a great deal about Web 2.0 tools and was amazed at how many social networking tools there are on the web and how quickly they evolve. Thanks TBLC for this workshop! Lauren
