Special Interest Groups

TBLC Special Interest Groups are an opportunity for staff in TBLC
member libraries to get together with staff in other libraries who
share similar job responsibilities and library-related interests. SIG
meetings often feature guest speakers on topics relevant to the SIG's
focus.

Each SIG sets its own meeting calendar. All SIG meetings are
announced on the appropriate TBLC-sponsored discussion lists and
to library staff who indicate their interest in their entry in the TBLC
membership directory. To make changes to your TBLC profile, send
your new information to help@tblc.org or fax to (813) 628-4425.

If your library-related interest is not represented by the following list
of TBLC SIGs, and you would like to form a new SIG, contact
Beth Farmer
.

Reader's Advisory SIG
TBLC Staff Liaison: Charlie Parker
Chair: Terri Romberger, Pasco County Library System
The Readers' Advisory SIG provides ongoing continuing education
and resource sharing. Membership is open to all interested library
personnel. Our quarterly meetings feature a program followed by a
time to discuss a preselected genre of literature. We challenge our
members to explore popular genres in order to develop their readers'
advisory abilities. Past topics include how books are selected for
review, booktalks, science fiction, and romance. We invite members
to bring marketing materials related to readers' advisory and to
share programming ideas.
