Maps
nearly any location within the United States with latitude and longitude
(in case you need to know exactly where you live); also allows searching
for Canadian and international locations. MapBlast! also provides local
information and and businesses (in several broad categories, such food,
lodging, banking, computers, education, health, or entertainment) in a
given locale, in addition to driving directions from any point to any point
Rand Mcnally. The famous map
and atlas maker has excellent maps and driving directions for US. locations.
MapQuest! Similar to MapBlast, MapQuest! includes a quick map feature for selected U.S. and international cities, provides airport maps and will map a telephone area code and exchange (example 727-397) For directions to international cities (North America and Europe, click here. The U.S. Gazetteer. Provided by the Census Bureau this is actually a good way for getting census data for a specific area. Sites can be located by name or by zip code. Expedia Maps. This Microsoft site is particularly good for locating travel related information, but will also pinpoint street addresses and provide driving directions. Its place finder feature includes a short selection of web sites about the place. Maps in the News. Selected by the University of Minnesota, these maps are taken from major news media and other sources and are linked to specific events in the news. National Atlas of the United States. Produced by the National Geological Survey this is still something of work in progress. The site is a bit more complex than typical, but does provide a level and depth of information not seen at most other map web sites. The Perry-Castañeda Library Map Collection. An massive online collections of maps produced by the University of Texas Library. How far is it? a web site which tells you the distance between any two points on the globe and shows this on a map. |
