Tarpon Springs Public Library

We're Here to Help Your Business!

Area business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs now have a new partner to help them with their day-to-day information needs. Who is this partner?

It's the Tarpon Springs Public Library. But what's so new about a library that traces its roots in the local community back to 1916?

What's new is the library's commitment to assisting the local business community.  Federal grant monies, municipal support, and most recently generous gifts of over $215,000

from the Friends of the Tarpon Springs Library have allowed the library to purchase a tremendous number of new business resources.

New shelving and signage, hundreds of new business books, updated reference materials, three new computer workstations, and many new electronic databases have been added to the library.  Best of all, several of these databases are available for home use around clock, day or night.

New resources are continuously being purchased, so let the library staff know if there is a specific item you think should be added to the collection.

We're here to help you and your business. That's what partners do.

Put Our Technology to Work for You

Libraries have certainly changed during the past few years. Gone are the card catalog, print magazine indexes such as the Reader's Guide, and back issues of print magazines and newspapers. They all have been replaced by electronic counterparts.

The Tarpon Springs Public Library is especially rich in electronic resources. For several years, its shared SUNLINE catalog has allowed users to obtain materials from several area libraries.

Recent improvements in the  new Anywhere-Anytime Library Catalog now let users request materials from almost every library in the United States, from any Internet computer.

Speaking of the Internet, high speed Internet access is another area in which the library excels.  There are currently 14 Internet access terminals in the Adult Services area of the library. Several of these computers also have business productivity software installed.  Internet training and other computer classes are regularly offered.  Sign up at the reference desk.

Several electronic resources are also available. For access to over 1700 business and trade magazines, try ABI-INFORM. For data on companies, the library subscribes to Hoover's Online, Standard & Poor's NetAdvantage, and ReferenceUSA (formerly the American Business Directory).  Visit our main business page or our database page for a complete list of databases in all subject areas.

Our technological bounty is at your service. Give it a test drive.
