FLA: Call for Proposals

Have you recently done a presentation or attended a workshop that you thought would be of interest to FLA members?  Then go to the FLA Web site and submit a proposal. 

The Program Proposal deadline is August 26, and you don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to share your information.   This year’s conference theme is “Celebrate the Leader in You.”  So be the leader you are and get busy on your proposals!

The conference will be held at the Tradewinds Beach Resorts and Conference Center, St. Pete Beach, Florida.

You can use census data to help you with all three!

Sign up for our “Accessing and Understanding Census Data” workshop (July 27) to learn about the Census Bureau’s structure, its functions and how data is collected, and a brief history of the census collection.

Then, use your knowledge to help you learn about your family’s history, or to study people’s habits and trends over a period of time, or to gather demographic data to help you target your marketing efforts.

TBLC Library Champion Award

TBLC Library Champion Award 

Nominations are now open for the 2007 TBLC Library Champion Award. 

The TBLC Library Champion Award is granted to recognize an elected or appointed official serving in any level of government who has demonstrated exceptional support for and attention to libraries. 

The 2006 recipients were Sen. Mike Fasano (New Port Richey) and Rep. Anthony “Trey” Traviesa.  In the past we have also honored local officials, including Rick Baker, Mayor of St. Petersburg, and Bob English, a Polk County Commissioner. 

Nominations for the TBLC Library Champion Award may be made by the voting representative of any TBLC member library or by the TBLC Executive Director.  The TBLC Board of Directors will review all nominations and select the recipient. 

Deadline for nominations for the 2007 TBLC Library Champion Award is August 31, 2007.
