FLA conference poster session application

Poster Session Applications being accepted until Friday, February 22, 2008.

Applications for presenting poster sessions at the 2008 Florida Library Association Annual Conference at the Tradewinds Resort in St. Petersburg Beach, Fla., are now being accepted.  Information and the application form are available here.

If you would prefer to send the application directly, direct information to Matt Torrence at torrence@lib.usf.edu. Please provide the title, author’s name, institutional address, e-mail address, and a 150 word abstract.

The deadline for submitting an application is Friday, February 22, 2008.  Applicants will be notified by Friday, March 7, 2008, concerning the outcome of the review process.  Poster sessions will be presented April 23 – 25, 2008.  Please note that due to space restrictions, we are not offering roundtable sessions at the 2008 FLA Annual Conference.

D&B Public Librarian Support Award

The BRASS Dun & Bradstreet Public Librarian Support Award application deadline has been extended to Dec.31, 2007.  Please consider applying for this award.

The D&B Public Librarian Support Award Committee is seeking nominees for this award to be presented at ALA 2008.  The $1,000 award will support attendance at the Annual Conference for a public librarian who has performed outstanding business reference service or programming, and who needs financial assistance to attend the conference.  Click here for additional information.

Present a poster session at ALA Annual Conference

The 2008 ALA Annual Poster Sessions will be held at the ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim, CA, June 28, 29, and 30, 2008.

2008 Florida Library Youth Program

The Florida Library Youth Program manuals for 2008 and teen posters are now available here. The children’s theme is the Whole Wide World @ My Public Library, with stories and crafts from each continent. For teens, the Technopop section has proven activities that will bring teens into your library.

Youth Services staff are invited to attend the December Florida Library Youth Program workshops. Each participant will receive a handout of over 50 craft ideas and instructions for elementary-school-aged children. Additionally, each participant will choose a professional resource book and a few will also take with them books from the elementary bibliography and puppets representing the continents. Call for Articles for the Spring 2008 issue of Florida Libraries

Article proposals are being accepted for the spring 2008 issue of Florida Libraries.  The spring issue is not a themed issue, so articles may be on any topic related to Florida libraries or on the theme for the 2008 FLA Annual Conference, “Celebrate the Leader in You.”

Proposals for articles should be submitted to Gloria Colvin (gpcolvin@yahoo.com) by December 1 using the proposal form found here.  Articles are due by January 7, 2008.

The editors of Library Journal need your help in identifying the emerging leaders in the library world. Their seventh annual Movers & Shakers supplement will profile 50-plus up-and-coming individuals from across the United States and Canada who are innovative, creative, and making a difference.
