The e-rate program provides discounts to assist schools and libraries in the United States to obtain affordable telecommunications and Internet access. The program is administered by the Schools and Libraries Division of the Universal Service Administration Company (USAC). USAC is directed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
TBLC manages e-rate applications and discounts for the telecommunications infrastructure that supports SUNLINE, the Anywhere-Anytime Library and other TBLC technology resources and for our plain-old telephone services (POTS).
To date we have received $126,482.20 in e-rate discounts and reimbursements.
E-rate discounts on telecommunications enable TBLC to maintain high-quality access to the programs and services, such as Alleycat, we provide to our member libraries via the Internet. The SUNLINE libraries are able to provide high-speed access to the SUNLINE database and related services for their patrons due to the discounts they receive on telecommunications services.
